Today many authors include Baker's genera Belamcanda, Xiphion, and Hermodactylus within the Genus Iris. In Baker's four genera there were 95 species.
Tribus 3 Aristideae
Genus Belamcanda
Tribus 5 Xiphionideae
33. Genus Xiphion
Tribus 7 Euirideae
37. Genus Iris (77 species)
Despite the fact that none of these subgenera are used today by taxonomists, except Oncocyclus, and that has been reduced to a section by most authors, these terms have stuck as colloqual names for these groups, especially among irisarians.
