Golden Foliage

golden foliage A rather rare group of novelty Irises is those with golden foliage. In a landscape they can be quite striking just as hosta and other plants with golden foliage contribute. But since many Iris are grown in rows in collectioms the garden value often goes unappreciated and many think they are just sickly looking plants. Perhaps for this reason they have had little development and remain rather limited. Most are Irises related to Iris pseudacorus and hybrids derived from this species. Often the golden foliage is only present in the spring and turns green as the weather warms. We are attempting to develop a list below of Irises with this trait. Please add any that have been missed by commenting in the comment box.

Siberian: 'Sporting Chance'.

Species: I. pseudacorus

Tall Bearded: Species Hybrids: Pseudatas 'Fantastreaks', 'International Conflict'.
