Difference: InfoUnregisteredSpecies (r3 vs. r2)

Unregistered Species

Unregistered species clones;

You can make a difference. A cultivar can be a seed strain or a clone. Cultivars are defined by their descriptions. If you are growing an unregistered species cultivar you can help by adding a description into the comment box at the bottom of that cultivar's page. After several people have added comments a consensus can be reached on what the named plant looks like and a description can be registered. There are many cultivars that have been offered in the trade for years without good descriptions. You can also add images. Your help in this matter will guide other gardeners in growing these plants. Please attempt a description when the plant is blooming for you.

Descriptions hopefully will include some measurements such as dimensions of the flower, branching, bud count. Since some of these parameters can be affected by growing conditions, please note the location, Hardiness zone, and conditions in which it was growing that can help in understanding its potential

Free Registration: If you select a plant from the wild and note its geographical position such as county, province, state, small country etc. You may register it for free. The American Iris Society realizes the value of having garden clones from different environmental conditions and locations as a way of preserving the genetic diversity in gardens. Often plants from different localities exhibit interesting traits or climatic adaptations. By getting these into gardens we expand the gene pool and help in the conservation of the species.
