POSITION TITLE: Electronic Services Chairman

BASIC FUNCTION:

• To oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Electronic Services program of The American Iris Society in advancing the quality and extent of The American Iris Society services available via computer and internet.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

• He/she is appointed by the AIS President and responsible to the Board of Directors

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

1. To be thoroughly familiar with the rules and regulations of The American Iris Society Board of Directors as these pertain to electronic services provided for AIS members.
2. To manage the contract for the www.irisregister.com website.
3. To manage the AIS website.
4. To advise the AIS Board of Directors and AIS Standing Committees on matters involving the provision of electronic services.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:

1. To direct the activities of the Electronic Services Committee in advancing the quality and extent of the AIS services available via computer and internet.
2. To serve as a resource to the AIS Board of Directors and standing committees on matters involving the provision of electronic services.
3. To provide a communication path between the AIS Board of Directors and the operator of the AIS online gift shop. To examine the books of the operator of the online gift shop as per contract terms.
4. To manage the contract for the www.irisregister.com website and manage the development of content for the site.
5. To ensure payment of domain registration fees for http://www.irisregister.com/.
6. To manage the AIS website; interview candidates for and select a webmaster to maintain the site.
7. Attend the spring and fall meetings of the AIS Board of Directors and present a written report.

TIMETABLE FOR ACCOMPLISHING SPECIFIC TASKS:

mid-March

• Approve the contract invoice from Mallorn Computing and forward to the AIS Secretary for approval and payment (contract includes payment for domain name fee for www.irisregister.com).

April - May

• Attend the spring meeting of the AIS Board of Directors; present a report of the Electronic Services Committee.

November (First full week-end)

• Attend the fall meeting of the AIS Board of Directors; present the Annual Report of the Electronic Services Committee.
