'Flashing Beacon' (Dorothy Guild, R. 1969). Seedling #63-K-2. MTB, 23-26", Midseason bloom. Color Class-YO4RV, Standards yellow-orange (RHS 15B); falls grayed purple (187), shading from B to D; hafts yellow-orange with some red veining, narrow cream area on each side of beard tip; wide tangerineorangebeard. 'Kinglet' X Williamson seedling #34 #878. Guild 1970. Honorable Mention 1971.

From AIS Bulletin #197 April 1970 Introducing FLASHING BEACON. (Knight X Williamson 34#878). Sparkling variegata of red and amber-orange. No pollen, but pod fertile. $10.00. Dorothy Guild.
From Dorothy Guild we have had a series of bright variegatas and plicatas with variegata influence. My favorite is FLASHING BEACON ('69), which is every bit as brilliant as its name implies-yellow-orange standards, falls well covered with red-violet, form and stem excellent.
