Series Longipetalae. 15-30" (38-77 cm), an Iris missouriensiswhich has longer, broader leaves (up to 75 cm long and 1-1.2 cm wide) which are not glaucous and shorter pedicels less than 10 cm long, and branched flower stems; James 1926. Cambridge, MA; 119: 67. 1937 Mathew in "The Iris" (1981) stated "The variability of I. missouriensis has led to a proliferation of names and it is a matter for relief that the plant attached to these are now considered unworthy of recognition as separate entities. Names which may be encountered are: var. variety arizonica, which has longer, broader leaves (up to 75 cm long and 1-1.2 cm wide) which are not glaucous and shorter pedicels, less than 10 cm long, and branched flower stems;"
