'Demavendica'. (Joseph Friedrich Nicolaus Bornmueller, 1902, Elburz Mountains, Iran). Section Oncocyclus, Height 6" (15 cm); Flowers large, more blue or bluish violet than subsp. barnumae, described as claret red with darker deep violet-red veins; beard narrow, white; Iris demavendica (Bornm.)Bornm. ex K. H. Iris barnumae subsp. demavendica (Bornm.) Mathew & Wendelbo.
References: Bornmueller ex K. Rechinger in Ann. Naturhist. Mus. Wien lvii. 68 (1950). Mathew and Wendelbo reduced this to a subspecies of I. barnumae in Flora Iranica [Rechinger] 112: 35. 1975
