Iris drepanophylla Aitch. & Bak. (J. E. T. Aitchison and John Gilbert Baker, 1887, Askabad and Afghanistan); Subgenus Scorpiris, Juno; Height 4-12" (10-30 cm); Margins of the leaves hairy; Leaves hiding stem at flowering but later stem and leaves elongate so internodes are visible and leaves are up to 8" long and an inch wide; 2-8 Flowers varying from almost yellow to a greenish. The crest on the falls darker and the margins of the hafts are downturned; Standards slightly deflexed, very narrow almost bristle-like; Mathew notes "Iris drepanophylla is rather similar in appearance to Iris kopetdagensis but the latter has a more slender-looking flower which is usually greener and does not have the down-turned margins of the hafts of the falls." in Trans. Journal of the Royal Horticultural Society 1966, illustrated in color; Collected by Paul Furse #6505; syn. ‘Lime Green’; The subspecies chlorotica occupies the eastern part of the area of drepanophylla and is distinguished only by its greenish color. Iris drepanophylla subsp. chlorotica Mathew & Wendelbo in Flora Iranica p. 61. 'Chlorotica'. (Mathew & Wendelbo, N.E. Afghanistan); Juno; Flowers silvery green, crest white or pale yellowish green.
