Iris porphyrochysa Wendelbo. (Per Wendelbo, 1969, central Afghanistan); Subgenus Scorpiris, (Juno); height 4" (10 cm); 1-3 almost bronze flowers, Perianth tube and hafts brown purple; blade of falls yellow, crest orange. Swollen, long storage roots; Well developed leaves at the time of flowering , 10-17 cm long by .6-1.1 cm wide. The falcate leaves appear grey green with a papillose-puberulescense and with a narrow but distinct white margin and central nerve below. Wendelbo in Bot. Notiser, cxxii. 204 (1969).
