From Joe Pye Weed catalog, 2002: REDUNDANT- SPEC-lactea. Schafer/Sacks, 22", M and RE. Iris lactea is a very tough species from central and eastern Asia. While some lacteas are reluctant bloomers - this one is not. In May it is covered with bloom for two to three weeks and then in June does it again. It likes sun and grows in ordinary garden soil, but can tolerate drought. Beautiful blue-green foliage is lovely all season and turns gold in the fall. The flower on Redundant is lavender blue with lighter falls than standards and a delicate white signal with self veining. Seed from the Denver Botanic Garden. (Shipped potted in a 2-1/2 inch pot for ease of transplanting). $15.00 |
