Iris scorpioides (René-Louis Desfontaines, 1798) Latin description in Flora Atlantica 1: 40. and Plate #5
For awhile the name Iris alata Poir. was used but further dilligence confirmed Miller's name Iris planifolia was the earliest name and has priority over the other names. For the main entry see Iris planifolia but a number of variations were named in the AIS 1939 checklist at a time when Iris alata was the accepted name.
