Iris taochii Woronoff ex Grossheim(G. ( Woronoff, 1927, Kars, Turkish Armenia); G. Nikolajewitsch Woronoff, 1927, Kars, Turkish Armenia); Section Iris. DB; Dwarf Bearded; Height 5-12" (15-30 cm), Yellow, blue, or white; beard white, yellow tipped hairs or yellow hairs. hafts veined brown or brownish violet on a white or yellow ground.
References: Correvon 1927; Fl. Cauc. 1: 256. 1928; syn. taochii, toochii. Also thought to be a form of Iris aphylla. "Iris aphylla var. taochia Woronow ex Grossheim. Caucasus region: Kars, Turkish Armenia. Habit of growth resembles Iris aphylla. Large flowers normally dark violet-purple, but forms with yellow or whitish flowers are recorded. In particular, the dark violet flowered form is refined and most attractive." - Earnest Luscombe, 1976 B.I.S. Yearbook.
