See below:
APRIL MELODY (Gibson, '67) Each $20.00. This is a pretty close approach to being a pink plicata . . . the ground color light, almost white, pinkish lavender and the markings a bright and intense shade of lavender-rose. In 1965 this was awarded the cup for best seedling at the regional A.I.S. meeting. As noted in the picture, the flowers are a bit lacy and especially well proportioned. Large and long lasting. 34-30 inches. No. 37-IPF. [Cooley's Iris, 1967] |
Jim Gibson has been called the plicata king as a result of his outstanding contributions in this field. His APRIL MELODY is the first pink-ground plic of note. The color is not brilliant, but for a first in the field it has many outstanding qualities. Probably its best feature is the beautiful rounded form. [Mullin, Ron (1971). Irises I Like, American Iris Society Bulletin 204(January 1972), 13.] |
Reported Rebloom in: CA [The 2012 Cumulative Checklist of Reblooming Iris<, p. 8] |
