CAMELOT ROSE (Tompkins 1965) M.L. 39 in. ((Clarion Call x Recip. cross)) x Balinesian. An exciting Iris from a long line of inbreeding that we have worked on over many years and generations, Camelot Rose is a huge, beautifully fluted and ruffled bi-color of excellent form with wide, domed standards of silky, shining silvery orchid and brightly glowing Burgundy or Botticelli red falls of such width that the ruffled hafts overlap at the throat, giving added impetus to the spotlight effect of the bright orange-red beard against the thick, shiny, velvet-like finish of the falls. Strong, tall, excellently branched stalks display the massive flowers to topnotch advantage. A real stunner that gives definite promise of being a wonderful parent as well. May be seen this year in the Moldovan, Ballard and Miller gardens. See picture page 5. No. 62-91 A. Limited stock. One to a customer ...... $ 35.00. [Fleur de Lis catalog, 1965].
CAMELOT ROSE (Tompkins '65). Large billowy violet bitone with bright orange-red beard. Standards are silvery lilac, broad, ruffled, and overlapping. Falls are deep burgundy red with velvety finish and frosted the color of the standards just at the edges. Distinctive personality. [Sexton, Don (1972).
