From AIS Bulletin #236 January 1980 Introducing CATALYST (Keppel) M 35". Clear, bright sunflower yellow-not gold-with falls a bit darker and with a velvet finish. Beards yellow-orange. Generosity X orange seelding inv.Frances Kent, Mary Randall, Gail, Techny Chimes, Golden Gene, Denver Mint, Radiant Light, Golden Gleam, Hallmark. #75-83A. $25.00. Keith Keppel.
Some want to classify CATALYST (Keppel '80) as intense yellow rather than gold, but this one seems every bit as gold as the others. Regardless, CATALYST seems to have everything an iris should have, with ruffled flowers on widely branched tall, multi-budded stalks. (Kenneth Mohr, 1983. AIS Bulletin, July 1983, p. 35).
