From Wing Seed catalog, 1919: CATERINA. (Foster.) (Cypriana X Pall.) A handsome new hybrid with massive flowers of heavy texture on stout branching stems, four and one-half feet high. Splendid clear color, brilliant lavender with pinkish reflections, like a piece of changeable silk, base of fall broadly veined greenish-bronze. $1.00.
From H. P. Simpson catalog, 1922: CATERINA (Foster, 11K)1). Lavender-blue and lilac; almost the same coloring as P. Dalmatica except with a little pink showing. A beautiful flower and a graceful stem. Taller and larger than P. Dalmatica. Said to be a poor grower in very cold localities, but with me it is one of my best growers and with not a fault to find with it. 40-45-inch. Price (according to size) 30¢ and 40¢.

From the AIS 1939 Check List and Cornell Bulletin 112: Color effect a light lavender-violet self, veined on the outer haft. S. light lavender, veined olive on the outer haft. F. lavender-violet, widely veined olive on white outer haft. The beard is very coarse tho sparse, white, and yellow tipped. The bloom is large, delicately colored, and most fragrant. The variety is exceptional for its tall, many-flowered spikes and persistent winter foliage. A slightly sheltered position and well-drained soil are essential to its good health. Rating 89.
