'Dark Mystery' (Lloyd Austin, R. 1962). Seedling 941. TB, 44" (112 cm), Rebloom. Color Class V3D. Standards smoky wine; falls blackish crimson; cream beard. 'Russian Bronze' X 'April Showers'. Rainbow 1962.

Original catalog description: DARK MYSTERY (Austin '62) + 30" Outstanding for the size of it's flowers & its most distinctive deep mysterious coloring. A huge flower with a spread of 6 inches. Standards reddish amethyst; falls large, very rounded, velvety blackish crimson, with striking, very contrasty creamy-white beards. Very novel, completely unlike any other Re-Bloomer. Reblooms in Oct. & Nov. & on into the winter when climate permits. Pollen plentiful. [Russian Bronze X April Showers].......Regularly $15.00; on $25 order $9.95. [Rainbow Iris Catalog, 1962]
