A red seedling, N-20, since From Carl Salbach catalog 1943: named EDWARD LAPHAM, may possibly be more LAPHAM (Lapham 1942). An iris that comes nearest to being real red than any iris ever offered. Most iris in the red shades are two-toned and have other markings that do not add to their beauty. Edward Lapham is a true crimson self. Not large but very effective in the garden. Mid-season. 32". $17.00. Red Gleam. Junius P. Fishburn, "Survey of 1940 Iris Season", A.I.S. Bulletin 78_(July 1940): 48. Red Gleam, and the color had a little more brilliance and carrying quality. [William J. McKee, "Our President Travels", A.I.S. Bulletin 78 (Jul. 1940): 10.]
