'Flora Zenor' (Jacob Sass, R. 1941). Seedling# 40-318. TB. Late midseason bloom. Color Class-R4L, height 38" (97 cm). Standards Rosaline pink; falls Rosalene pink flushed Rosalene purple (Ridgeway). Conspicuous tangerine beard. Medium sized flowers on 38 inch well branched stems. 'Doré' X unknown. Maple Road Gardens 1931. High Commendation AIS 1941; Honorable Mention. AIS 1942; Award of Merit AIS 1944.

FLORA ZENOR (Sass-Salbach 1942) . One of the new iris that was much admired by many of the iris enthusiasts, who visited Mr. Sass's garden last year. An iris that definitely belongs to the pink class. The color is a light shell-pink with very prominent tangerine beard. Blooms of medium size. Standards slightly domed and falls semi-flaring. Well branched stems. Vigorous grower and very free flowering. 38". $25.00. [Carl Salbach Iris Catalog, 1942. Berkeley, California]
Flora Zenor is a poor parent usually; it gives small size, dirty color, narrow and pinched falls, though it does add fire to variegata blends and it does give fairly good height and vigor to its offspring. (Tom Craig, 1949). [Robins' Roost, AIS Bulletin 116(January 1950):53]
FLORA ZENOR (40-318). A seedling from DORE x (WAMBLISKA x RAMESES). This was a distinct color break for us. Its pollen parent is unknown. We were plagued with grasshoppers in 1938 when this cross was made, and they ate the paper label off...Color is somewhat similar to Dr. Loomis' "Sea Shell." We are looking forward to our first seedlings of FLORA ZENOR and are wondering what they will be like. It should be possible to get large flowered true pinks from it, and the time should not be too far distant. We are hoping the seedlings from ALBA SUPERBA x FLORA ZENOR will give us white iris with a pink glow. The many seedlings from PRAIRIE SUNSET x FLORA ZENOR may possibly bring us a step closer to true pinks. [Notes from Midwest Breeders, A.I.S. Bulletin *84:51 Jan. 1942.]
FLORA ZENOR (J. Sass, 1942) : Color about the same depth as in Spindrift and Pink Lace; standards a good clear pink; color in falls not clear; orchid blend in the field; violet venation heavy on haft and extending a little beyond the tip of the beard; beard becoming thin at tip; flowers of good form but smaller than in Melitza; branching good. Neither in 1945 nor in 1946 was I able to get a seed pod on it by using Melitza and Pink Lace pollen, but "takes" were obtained both years by using its pollen on Melitza and several other varieties.
