Awaiting original catalog description.
FRONTIER MARSHALL (Schreiner '65) A big flower for a red, excellently formed and substanced and borne on tall and widely branched stems. The catalog listing of crimson lake just about hits its color. Excellent in Ohio. We wonder how it will stand the rigors of our southern climate where many reds are definitely not happy. [Ralph and Helen Lewis, “Iris from the Carolinas to Iowa and Ohio,” Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 179 (October 1965): 91.]
FRONTIER MARSHALL is a dependable garden performer in the red class. Very vigorous and floriferous, though the form isn't up to the par of some of the other "reds." [Joe Ghio, “The Eye of the Beholder,” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 199 (October 1970): 44.]
