The Falls are semi-flating of deep velvety maroon blending into rich brown at the very broad hafts. Beard are burnished gold. This iris has great resistanced to bad weather in spite of its great size of flower. Fine branching."
In 1946 Cooley's Catalog as" />"GALLANT LEADER (Wiesner, 1939) Each $1.50; 3 for $4.00 Broad and well-arched standards of deep rose-red; falls velvety maroon touched with coppery gold, especially at the haft. A flower of staggering size, impressive in its richness and regal carriage. HM AIS, 1939."
