From Diehl's Gardens catalog, 1955: GAY INTRIGUE (Streibich '55) Tall. This is the first tall bearded introduction of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Streibich; a plicata of good size and with form, substance and branching better than many of the plicatas. The standards, which are closed and domed, are heavily marked deep bright purple on a white base, while the gracefully flaring falls are only lightly edged with the same color, being the most concentrated at the haft. Even the purple style arms add to the charm, while the bright orange beard enlivens the entire flower. The bloom stalks are tall and well branched and the flowers are in good proportion to the height. $15.00
