From Maple Valley Gardens catalog, 1943: IOWA MAID (Whiting ISM-3) (No_ 1943) (No. 3952). M. 34” in. A charming flower of modest size and demeaner but of excellent qualities. It is a distinct bicolor with standards of golden buff and falls of pure rose pink laid on so smoothly at the haft that it seems to have an enamel finish. The form of the flower is very pleasing. the standards are firmly domed and the falls flare crisply; the substance is exeeptionally heavy. The stalk is of medium height, strong and well branched; the plant has excellent growing and blooming habits. $5.00. |
