'Lazy Lagoon' (Chet Tompkins, R. 1963) TB, 38" (97 cm), Midseason to very late bloom. White ground plicata, magenta red markings; blue undertone. ('Tropicana' x 'Harlequin') X 'Olympus Skies'. Fleur de Lis 1963.
See below:
LAZY LAGOON (Tompkins 1963) M.L. 39 in. (Tropicana x Harlequin) x Olympus Skies. A tremendously large flower with extremely wide petals, broad waved standards and nearly horizontal falls so broad that their fluted, widely ruffled edges seem to caressingly rest on each other. As bright and showy as the spectacular Hibiscus of the South Sea Isles, this has gleaming wine red standards and white ground falls heavily bordered and almost lazily washed with rich magenta red which is brightened to violet magenta by an undertone of Lagoon blue. This whole pattern is heightened more by the white ground. Heavily substanced and long lasting, the flowers are shown on very well branched, many budded stalks. No. 60-60. $25.00.
