LEILANI LEILANI (Wash., 1943) : Orange pink; color in standards clear with the lower edges orange pink; striation three-fourths of the way down the falls; style orange pink; beard light tangerine, becoming thin at tip; flower form good; branching good; much increase; leaves narrow and much like those of Melitza. Charming and entirely different, this iris has great color appeal and is most outstanding in this new class of orange pinks. The standards are Venetian pink, well domed and firm. The rounded falls are the same color with well defined lines of deeper pink which give added intensity to the flower, while the peach red beard completes the color harmony. LEILANI (Washington) belongs to the new color class of Venetian pinks. The color is very attractive and will be of special interest to breeders for pinks, as it has more depth of color than any other of the Venetian pinks I have seen. [McKee, William (1943).
