'Main Event' (Les Peterson, R. 1958). Seedling# 57-157. TB, 35" (89 cm). Midseason bloom. Color Class R1D, Indian lake and garnet lake blended self; dull yellow beard. ('Char-Maize' x (2 sisters from 'Happy Days' x 'Député Nomblot')) x ('Bryce Canyon' x 'Moontide'). Tell 1960.

From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1963: MAIN EVENT (Peterson '60) M. 36 in. Charmaize x ((Happy Days x D. Nomblot) x Bryce Canyon x Moontide)) x Sib.). Appearing to be a purple red edition of Charmaize, this is a blend of Indian lake and garnet lake. A dull yellow beard and white veinings at the haft add to its pattern. Quite interesting. H.M. 1961. 10.00.
From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1964: MAIN EVENT (Peterson '60) M-35". A very distinguished deep crimson red with wonderful size, shape & substance. Termed a blend of Indian Lake & Garnet Lake, almost a complete self. Immense flowers, often large enough to be Colossal. Substance so thick it is hardly exceeded by any other Iris. Falls almost horizontal; beard bronzy gold. Great breeding possibilities. HM'61, JC'61 & '62. Char-Maize X Sdlg. Regularly $5.00; on $10 order $3.25; on $25 order $2.25; 3 for $6.10.
