1935, Stahlman-Washington
'Mellow Moon' ( Mrs. Edward Stahlman- Thomas Washington, R. 1934) TB; Early bloom, Color Class S4L. Introduced by Nesmith 1935.
‘Mellow Moon’ 'Mellow Moon' (Washington, 1934). A pale blend of good form and height. The falls faintly veined. It suggests ‘Helios’ 'Helios' or ‘Marquita’ 'Marquita' but is a more compact and larger flower, the falls smoothly rounded, the standards domed. The stalk is widely branched. Height 45 inches. An easily remembered novelty and might be called a more brilliant and taller ‘Doxa’ 'Doxa' . ----Mabel Carey Tobie p58 AIS Bulletin #59 October 1935 Iris notes on Mrs. Thomas Nesmith’s Nesmith's collection.
MELLOW MOON (Washington 1935) Standards are well domed and large, of soft buff-yellow; falls of same color as standards, semi-flaring with faint maroon lines near haft; yellow beard. 45 in. $2.50.
