From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: MEMPHIS LASS (Schortman '55) E-ML-36". A gracefully ruffled plicata ·of huge size in pure white, margined pinkish lilac & light mulberry. Very broad flowers, fine growing habit, good branching, abundant pollen. HM'57, RU-AM'61 & '62. Snow Flurry x Orchid Queen X Snow Flurry x Gibson Girl. Regularly $7.50; on $10 order $4.50; on $25 order $2.95; 3 for $7.95.
MEMPHIS LASS, a recent introduction from Bill Schortman, has style and form that will compare favorably with iris in any color class. I find it hard to fault on any count. It has a cream-white ground with red-purple stitching, wide, flaring form and is ruffled. Its parentage is most interesting: (SNOW FLURRY X ORCHID QUEEN) X (SNOW FLURRY X GIBSON GIRL). ORCHID QUEEN is SNOW FLURRY X (INSPIRATION X BALMUNG). So there are three doses of SNOW FLURRY and three of plicata".
