'Mulberry Wine' (Steve Moldovan, R. 1966). Seedling# 61-38. TB, 30" (76 cm), Early to midseason bloom. Mulberry-violet self; white beard; ruffled. 'Regal Ruffling' X 'Orchid Jewel'. Moldovan 1966. High Commendation 1965; Honorable Mention 1967; Judges Choice 1967, 1968; Award of Merit 1969.

From AIS Bulletin #181 April 1966. Introducing MULBERRY WINE (Moldovan) M. 29-30 in, $25.00. (Regal Ruffling X Orchid Jewel). Extremely ruffled and fluted blend of bright mulberry and violet. H.C. '64 and '65. Moldovan's Gardens.
  MULBERRY WINE had difficulty with getting the flowers out of the foliage the first few years it was grown here, but the past two it has had taller stalks which eliminated that problem. Its different mulberry coloring with a white beard attracts much attention, especially since the flowers are so well formed. [Mullin, Ron (1971).
