From Tell’s Iris Gardens catalog,1959: PRETTY CAROL (Melba Hamblen, Roy, Utah.) Midseason to Late. 40 inches. (Radiation x Pink Tower.) X (Mary Randall.) Gorgeous, stately, queenly and every other adjective one might conjure to use in its description and praise. Every connoisseur of fine iris has praised this beautiful creation. The color is rich Orchid somewhat in the same range as the pollen parent, Mary Randall. There are few in this color class with the height, size and great width of petals. Shown at Salt Lake City in 1956 PRETTY CAROL was awarded the cup for best seedling and received the C.O.C.from the A.l.S., and in 1956 received an H. C.award. PRETTY CAROL is destined for great popularity and should be a wonderful parent. No. 53-12. $25.00
