I believe Queen's Taste was the standout of the season for me because of its unusual coloring. It is sort of an amoena blend, reddish falls with white border, lilac standards and light yellow beard. Flower has good form and adequate stem. Everyone will want this iris. Waters, Don (1952). Random Comment, American Iris Society Bulletin 128 (January 1953), 53.
From Wallace Iris Gardens catalog 1955: QUEEN'S TASTE - (Douglas '52). M. 38". (Criterion x Olympian). A byproduct of Mr. Douglas' amoena breeding, this is a grand iris in its own right. The standards are a gleaming lavender pink and the broad falls are a glowing tone of blended red, very bright and velvety. NET $8.00.

From Fleur de Lis Gardens catalog 1956: QUEEN'S TASTE (Douglas 1952) M. 38 in. (Criterion x Olympian). A by-product of Mr. Douglas' amoena breeding, this is a grand iris in its own right. The standards are a gleaming lavender pink and the broad falls are a glowing tone of blended red, very bright and velvety. The flowers are about twice the size of regular amoenas and since it is very fertile both ways it should be very valuable as a parent for amoenas and other new color combinations. A. M. 1955. 7.50.
