From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: RED MANTLE (Slamova '61) ++ 35". A deep red, nearly a self, of remarkable size, rounded form & heavy substance. Standards dark carmine. Falls strongly flaring, broad, rounded, dark carmine, veined in carmine-black; beard yellow. Tall, well-branched stalks. Foliage remains green late into fall.
