From Irisknoll Catalog, 1942: Rio Oro—Mid-season to late. Height 40 inches. A glistening, deep, golden Honey Yellow self. A smooth flower, with straight hanging falls, and closed standards. Beard yellow, of pleasing form, and clear bright color. Flowers measure 5½ inches, and have substance. Each $20.00 Net

From Fairmount Gardens catalog, 1946: RIO ORO (DeForest 1942) M. L. An iris of great charm and refinement and one of the most fascinating colors in the garden. It is a rich honey yellow self giving the effect of a bright golden brown. The standards are well domed and firmly held, the falls very flaring. Well formed flowers, tall, with good branching. Vigorous growth. 40 in. $5.00.
