| From Maple Valley Iris Garden catalog, 1945: ROCKET (No. 4215) A brilliant new orange yellow iris that many of our visitors think is the finest they hate ever seen in our gardens. Judges and casual visitors alike, went straight to it. The standards are pure deep chrome and the falls are pure deep orange chrome almost to the edge. The flowers are large, wide petalled, classically formed and of very heavy substance. Seven to nine blooms are well carried on strong 38 inch stalks. When this seedling first bloomed we called it Brass Band—because it was so loud—but it is really flame color, not in the least brassy,so brassy, so we have named it ROCKET. $40.00. |

The standards are pure deep chrome, and the falls are orange chrome, shaded a bit lighter at the edge. The flowers are large, broad petaled and of firm substance. Strong well branched stalks.
