From the Maple Valley Gardens catalog, 1953: RUMBA 1949: RUMBA, ROSE, Whiting 1949. No. 4629 (WABASH X FAIR ELAINE) F2. Midseason to F 2. M. late. 38 inches. An unusual iris of the amoena type. The standards are in. Rosy red amoena, clean and fresh. Standards pale pink lavender, orchid pink, the falls vibrant rose red. Not a red purple. Sets seed readily quiet symphony, it has the warm. pulsing rhythm of the Cuban dance for which it is named. The flowers are of medium size and firm substance carried on tall, fairly well has fertile pollen. Strong, prolific plants. $5.00. branched stalks. Plants are vigorous and hardy. $1.50.
