High Commendation 1952. Honorable Mention 1954; Award Of Merit 1958; Award Of Merit, Royal Horticultural Society-British Iris Society, 1959.

Magnificent flowers of wonderful substance are broad petaled, beautifully shaped, ruffled and flaring.The plant is vigorous, foliage handsome, flower stalks numerous. Child of Cahokia x Lady Ilse; it was named for the well-known play. Net $50.00. Ken Smith.
From M. Oliver Flower Farm catalog, 1958: SOUTH PACIFIC (K. Smith '54) M.L. 40 A beautiful blue self between pale Windsor blue and a light bright blue. Beard is almost white. Standards are well domed and the falls flare widely. H.M. '54. $9.50.
 
From Walter Marx Gardens catalog 1962: SOUTH PACIFIC (K. Smith 1954) Each 2.5O. Introduced at $100.00 per rhizome originally and still regarded by many judges as the best of its color. A blue self between pale Windsor blue and a light bright blue with an almost white beard. Standards are well domed and falls are nicely rounded. Has all the good points including fragrance. HM 1954, AM 1958. 40 inches. Picture p.28.
