1957, Craig
'Steeplechase' (Tom Craig, R. 1957). Seedling# 55-2. TB, 45" (114 cm), Early bloom and re-bloom late. Steeplechase-blue self. 'Sleighride' sibling X ('Headlands' x 'Mary McClellan'). Craig 1957.
See below:
From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: STEEPLECHASE (Craig '57) + E-L-42". Exceptionally smooth full-formed deep blue of heaviest substance. Carries the rich & intense colo of a bunch of violets, and is almost as fragrant. In warm climates this top quality blue self flowers not only in spring but heavily thru fall & winter, proving a super breeder forrepeat bloomers. I'd like to see this crossed with my Blue Surprise. (Sieighride sib. X (Headlands x Mary McClellan)). Regularly $5.00 on $15 order, 2 for $4.50; on $25 order, 3 for $3.95. |
