From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog, 1964: THUNDER ROAD (Tompkins 1964) ML.-VL. 39 in. (Mountain Music x Brigadoon) x Twilight Zone. This child of Twilight Zone inherits that strangely, beautiful and compelling new color indigenous to its parent, while managing at the same time to inject some other new and unusual color tones along with a new and different form into its makeup in its own way. A large, exquisitely formed flower of very heavy substance and smooth clean, completely unveined finish with extra broad, heavily ruffled, perfectly domed standards and wide, flaring, gracefully ruffled falls. A new, self toned blend in the violet blue and rose violet or blue purple range. Color it with a basic shade of the darkest, most velvety finished Indigo you can imagine, then completely overtone this with a wash of rosy vatican purple and tint the whole with a glittering twilight blue offset by a vivid Indigo purple beard set on smooth, clean, chocolate brushed hafts and you have it. A real--Like WOW! type flower and only one to a customer. No. 61-134. Net 25.00
