From AIS Bulletin #213 April 1974 Introducing BARLETTA (BAY). TB, 34-35", ML. (Song of Paris X Pop 0' Sha). Full standards of misty white; falls same at hafts and extending irregularly halfway down falls, balance medium blue with slight overlay of lavender. No two falls are marked identically. A 'fancy' color pattern charm flower. Named after the small seaport town of Barletta in southeast Italy. $25.00. Les Peterson. |
As for BARLETTA, too bad a plant that grows so well and has show stalk branching, should also have a flower with the most washed-out purplish blue coloration you ever saw. I'm told it's supposed to be a step in the direction of the "amoena-plicatas", but that's a direction I'm not heading.
