From Carl Salbach catalog 1940: DAWN OF GOLD (Salbach 1940). We offer this superb big new yellow with full realization that there are a number of good yellows in existence, but we are confident that Dawn of Gold will receive the approval of the most critical iris experts. The blooms are so rich and bold, that practically every visitor insisted on learning its name. Standards are deep rich golden yellow. The big broad horizontal falls of very heavy substance, are a shade deeper in color. Both are slightly ruffled. Plants are very sturdy, stalks low and well branched. In comparison with Golden Majesty, we find Dawn of Gold much larger and slightly deeper in color. Only one rhizome to a customer. Late. 36". $20.00.
